Essential Survival Company was established to provide basic wilderness training and supplies at affordable prices.
All workshops and weekend trainings are hands-on and cover the basic skills needed to survive in any situation to assure your survival. The weekend trainings are packed with instruction and exercises focused around the basics of survival: Food, Fire, Shelter & Water. We figure that this may be our only chance we may have to share this with you so we really pack a lot into a short time. All of training is conducted by Tom Clark who has been studying and practicing survival techniques for several years.
The supplies we offer and sell are very specific to survival. We ONLY sell what we have personally used and carry ourselves. If you open our camping/survival packs, these are the products you will find. We chose these products based on quality, usability, and cost. This means you are getting only the best products offered at affordable prices. Our goal is to help you build out your survival gear to help you survive or just enjoy the outdoors.

Tom ClarkTom Clark is one of the three founding members and chief instructor of Essential Survival Company with over 18 years of experience in the survival world. Tom has trained in survival techniques through the military, where he served as a Company Commander in the US Army. He has also studied under the renown Tom Brown Jr., founder of the elite Tracking, Nature and Wilderness Survival School. Tom draws upon his military training and wilderness expertise in leading each survival school as the chief instructor. Currently Tom lives in Sarasota, FL with his wife Amy and their children Gabe & Abbi. When not surviving in the wild, Tom is the global projects manager works for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Tampa, FL. |

Tobby Byers is one of the three founding members of ESC and has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys teaching others what he has learned. Tobby was born and raised in northern Alabama where he spent all of his free time in the woods hunting and fishing. At the age of 16 he moved to Florida and worked at a grocery store while attending high school then college. After 10 years working indoors, realized that job was not for him. He purchased a landscaping and maintenance business which is a perfect job for him since he's outdoors. It has allowed him to learn about native plants and nature. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, cooking and camping. Currently Tobby lives in Sarasota, Florida with his wife and their children Kelsey, Trevor, Karissa and Trenton. Tobby has his own landscaping business which has served the suncoast for 15 years. Tobby thanks God, the Creator of nature for giving us the knowledge for survival. Genesis 1:30 |

Ryun Forsman is one of the three founding members of ESC and the man behind the website. Ryun grew up in the northwest corner of Massachusetts and quickly found a love of the outdoors through camping and fly fishing trips. Ryun met his wife at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and convinced him to move to beautiful Sarasota Florida. Ryun currently works as a Production Manager for a local Direct Marketing company and in his spare time he co-runs his own BBQ business, Computer Repair ministry, and maintains the ESC website. |
